    2-HOBA is an isoketal scavenger.1 In vivo, 2-HOBA reduces angiotensin II-induced increases in blood pressure and decreases isoketal accumulation in mouse heart and vasculature. It also prevents angiotensin II-induced collagen IV accumulation and renal damage in mouse kidney. 2-HOBA has also been used as a building block in the synthesis of saluretic agents and task-specific ionic liquids.2,3
